SJD SHORTS Outlander & Études

Created exclusively for our online audience, SJD SHORTS presents specially chosen excerpts from our rich catalogue, each one personally introduced by Shobana.

Outlander and Études will both be premiered live on Facebook on Monday 6 July at 7pm (UK). Inspired by Veronese’s monumental painting ‘Wedding at Cana’, and Rodin’s intimate sculptures respectively, both works were created to be performed within a gallery setting.

Afterwards Shobana will chat with Guardian Dance Writer Sanjoy Roy about creating the works, and answer your questions online. Click here for full details.

★★★★★ “… the choreography embodies the connection between sculpture and drawing” The Independent

Episode 3 of Surface Tension discusses the practical and artistic considerations of making work for spaces outside of theatres, including a monastery in Venice (Outlander), the courtyard of Somerset House (Counterpoint), and historic churches (TooMortal). Listen here.
