We have previously offered workshops, residencies and mock auditions or masterclasses for higher education students. Inspired by Shobana’s choreography, the sessions focussed on being creative with the body and the mind and questioning the world around us. Participants explored Shobana’s unique contemporary dance technique, repertory and creative tasks while creating their own movement.
We offered:
Introductory workshops to Shobana’s work
“It was different to other workshops I’ve done and it was really fun” – Secondary School student
“The content [of the workshop] suited the students’ age and ability. It was interesting and engaging for all. [The dancer’s] manner and attitude with the students was excellent and he understood how to approach both the younger boys and the older students” – Secondary School teacher
Primary School residencies
“I’ve never done this sort of dancing before, it was really different and I liked that I could move my body how I wanted to” – year 4 Primary School student
Repertory workshops
“Friday’s workshop was a fantastic success with our Dance students feeling much more confident with Faultline. Your dancer’s knowledge and experience in the dance industry was invaluable for our students to listen to. She had planned for all aspects that needed covering during the 3 hours which has helped our students enormously.” – GCSE Dance teacher
Basic movement sessions
For dance beginners or dancers who are less mobile.
“I think this workshop is a marvellous get together which inspires you to try harder and harder. I like the mixture of watching and trying, it is brilliant and inspiring. It inspires you to try harder.” – workshop participant
Masterclasses
“The teacher was lovely and she really gave us an insight on what it would be like to work in a company and also how some choreographers work” – Masterclass participant
