Perspectives: Constructions of the self in art and dance – 29 Nov

On Friday 29th November, we welcome you to join us at The National Gallery for an evening of performance, exhibition and discussion. We will be celebrating the outcomes of the collaboration between Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, The National Gallery and young people aged 14-17 from across Westminster.

Taking inspiration from Shobana’s latest work, Staging Schiele, students from St Marylebone School and Westminster City have been exploring the relationship between visual arts and dance. In this celebration evening, forty students will present their choreography and portraits to you and explain their process and influences in a post-show Q&A.

Join us at The National Gallery from 5pm in Gallery A (Level 0). Please ask staff if you cannot locate Gallery A.

17:00 – 18:00 – Performances every 15 minutes [at 17.00, 17.15, 17.30 & 17.45], exhibition also open to the public

18:00 – 18:15 – Q&A and post show tour of the gallery works that inspired the piece, led by students

Please note that capacity is limited in Gallery A, and therefore spaces for the audience will be allocated on a first come first served basis on the day. Performances will be taking place every 15 minutes from 5-6pm, so please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the slot you wish to attend to avoid disappointment.
