Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, a national and international touring company, has nearly 20 years of education expertise and a strong reputation for high quality dance education work.
Aim
Our programmes aim to promote dance practice in the UK, through understanding and appreciation of the dance vocabulary and choreography of Shobana Jeyasingh. A strong focus is also placed on providing an enriched experience for our students as audience members at the Company’s tour performances.
SJDC has:
1. Worked in many settings including: primary, secondary, tertiary and vocational schools, community projects and with young people at risk.
2. Led on many master classes, study days and INSETs.
3. Created Key Stage 1 and 2 resources with Surrey LEA
4. Developed programmes of work with specialist status Performing Arts schools across the UK, and with students in pre-vocational training with the Music and Dance Scheme.
5. Choreographed for post-graduate dance students at London Contemporary Dance School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, London Studio Centre and Middlesex University over the last five years.
